Project Challenge
The brand created great videos to teach people how to skateboard but the content was spread throughout YouTube and didn't always go in a logical order while watching. This lead users to frustration or quitting skating when attempting skills higher than their current level.
- SOLUTION -
A concept for an app that housed all the brand's video content, but separated it by levels. In order to create more longevity in the learning process I designed an area where people could track their progress with videos, the trick they are learning, and notes about their development.
Consistency is Key
I've tried many times in my life to skateboard. My main failures revolved around giving up when it became too difficult (and because I have a healthy fear of death). Knowing that skill development comes from repetition and time, I created the app to be based around not success but progress. Showing attempt counts, accomplished rates and tutorials for how to do each trick rewards users with the visual representation of their dedication.
